Roman Exhibition

Saturday 26th January 2013 saw the launch of our Roman Exhibition at Cockermouth Town Hall, which was opened with speeches from Mark Graham, Tiffany Hunt from Heritage Lottery and Cockermouth Town Mayor, Isobel Burns.

With glass in hand, everyone had a chance to read through the panels and stand with their noses and fingers pressed against the glass of the cases, looking for the artefacts they had found. For some, this was the first time they had seen them since they had been pulled from the ground. There was added joy in seeing some of the pieces reconstructed into near complete vessels.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and we would like to thank everyone who came along as well as extend the invitation to the community to go see the exhibition and  leave some comments in our visitors book. As the exhibition will be there for the remaining 2 and half years of the project, expect some changes in the display cases as we find more artefacts during the project.
